Our journey began in the early 1990s when a group of passionate small stock farmers and sheep producers laid the foundation for Farmers Meat. Over the years, we faced challenges such as prolonged droughts and difficult trading conditions, but our resilience and determination have led to success. Today, through our partnership with the O&L Group and Hartlief, we have forged a path of collaboration and synergy, propelling both our company and the industry forward. Today, the O&L Group holds an 85% shareholding in Hartlief, which, in turn, possesses 100% shareholding in Farmers Meat.
O&L's investment in Mariental reaches beyond the N$ 70 mil in Farmers Meat. Our !Aimab SuperFarm represents a ground-breaking venture with a monumental investment of N$ 300mil. In addition, O&L has invested N$ 30mil in the MBE Biogas plant. These endeavours have created over 200 employment opportunities for the local workforce, driving economic growth and prosperity in the Hardap region.
Our team comprises around 100 hardworking individuals, most of whom were born and raised in Mariental and the broader Hardap region. By nurturing local talent and offering employment opportunities, we contribute to the growth and prosperity of the Hardap region, striving to create a brighter future for our fellow Namibians. Our vision is to expand our operations, unlock new markets and increase employment opportunities, fostering equality and growth in the process.
Maintaining high standards is at the core of our operations. We accept lamb only from approved sheep producers, ensuring strict adherence to export quality regulations. Nearly 80% of the sheep processed by Farmers Meat is destined for export markets, guaranteeing the highest quality and grading process.
Animal welfare is paramount to us and we have a full-time DVS animal health inspector on-site to ensure the well-being of the animals throughout the process.
